Position: Director of Finance, Accounting & Tax

Position Summary:
As the Director of Finance, Accounting & Tax of the Single Family Office (group of related companies), you will primarily focus on managing and optimizing the financial reporting, tax preparation and compliance of the companies and their individual owners.
The role requires deep understanding of financial operations, tax strategies, and regulatory requirements, including both Federal and Quebec tax laws. You will be collaborating closely with the CIO & CFO to professionalize the family office. Your integrity, respect, discretion, and appreciation for the unique dynamics of the enterprising family are paramount to fulfilling your mandate.
Your versability and adaptiveness will enable you to manage a diverse and challenging workload aimed at capturing current knowledge and organizational practices from the family principals and converting it into structured policies and processes while migrating of all key accounting, tax and investment reporting functions and tasks onto a fully digital platform to ensure business resilience.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Financial Reporting
· Lead the preparation of comprehensive financial reports for all corporate entities, ensuring accuracy, clarity and timeliness.
· Manage financial reporting systems and liaise with external and internal staff members to prepare financial reports. 2) Tax Preparation and Planning
  1. Tax preparation and Planning
· Lead tax preparation process for both corporate and individual taxpayers, ensuring compliance with the federal and provincial tax laws and regulations.
· Assist in the development of tax planning strategies with the goal of minimizing personal, corporate and estate taxes.
· Remain current on tax law changes. 3) Process improvement
  1. Process Improvment
· Continually review and improve financial processes and procedures to increase efficiency.
· Create internal manuals and document processes and procedures.
  1. Internal controls
· Lead the development of internal controls to effectively safeguard financial assets.
 
  1. RiskManagement
· Help identify various risks, particularly relating to tax and compliance, and develop risk migration strategies.

6) Financial Planning and Cash Flow Analysis
· Conduct financial planning, including cash flow forecasts, personal balance sheets, and scenario analysis to support long-term financial goals of individual family members.

Qualifications:
· CPA designation.
· Completion of the In-Depth Tax Program.
· Minimum of 7 years of experience in a finance or accounting role with a significant focus on tax preparation and planning.
· Tax preparation experience, including T1, T2 and T3 returns.
· Working proficiency in French is preferred. Skills: · Ability to work independently and self-manage.
· Advanced knowledge of tax and estate planning techniques.
· Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex tax and financial concepts clearly.
· High degree of professionalism and integrity in handling confidential information.
· Versatility – ability to work across different functions, including financial reporting, tax, financial planning.
· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
· Proficiency with MS Office software.
· Experience with CaseWare, QBO, Tax prep, Turbotax, Masttro, Addepar.
· Strong project management and organizational skills.
